Meet the Optometrist
Dr. Strong is a native Kansan, born in October 1982 and raised in Auburn, KS. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS) in 2007 and a Doctorate in Optometry at the University of Missouri St. Louis (St. Louis, MO) in 2012. Since 2012 Dr. Strong has worked as a practitioner gaining valuable clinical and business management experience. Before receiving his doctorate at the University of Missouri St. Louis in Optometry, Dr. Strong had participated in many aspects of the eye care industry. In 2011 Dr. Strong traveled to the island of Jamaica for a volunteer medical trip to help the local population whom lacked access to modern eye-care, culminating in helping hundreds of people improve their vision and visual health. He is currently licensed by the Kansas and Missouri State Boards of Optometry. Dr. Strong is trained to recognize a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes and hypertension.
Past honors and awards include the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award, Gold Key Honor Society, and Eagle Scout Award. Dr. Strong would be described by his friends as fun-loving and easy to get along with. In addition his hobbies include fishing, water-sking, traveling, and the outdoors. Dr. Strong is an original partner and co-creator of Blue Valley Vision of Overland Park and very much looks forward to helping you and your family with all of your eye-care needs!
Dr. Jayme Fose is native to Kansas, born and raised in WaKeeney. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry from Fort Hays State University (Hays, KS) in 2003 and a Doctorate in Optometry at Southern College of Optometry (Memphis, TN) in 2007. Dr. Fose has been involved with the eye care industry since 2002. During college she worked as an ophthalmic technician for a well respected ophthalmologist, allowing her to gain valuable clinical and business experience. As a member of Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity, she spent time in El Salvador, the Dominican Republican, and Chile providing eye care to the under-served. She is a member of the Kansas Optometric Association. Dr. Fose is trained to recognize a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetes, and hypertension. Dr. Fose is an original partner and co-creator of Blue Valley Vision of Overland Park and very much looks forward to helping you and your family with all of your eye-care needs!
Dr. Sowash is a Kansas native who has a passion for building relationships with her patients and providing them with excellent care. She is a proud graduate of Benedictine College, where she received her degree in biology and Spanish. She earned her optometry degree from Arizona College of Optometry in 2016 and moved to Colorado with her husband shortly after. After practicing in Denver, they made their way to her hometown to be closer to family. In her free time, she enjoys chasing after her toddler, playing cards with family, and watching the Royals. Dr. Sowash is excited to be back in Kansas City and practicing with the crew of Blue Valley Vision.
Dr. Burt Schreiber is also a native to Kansas, born and raised in OverlandPark, and a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Rockhurst University and a Doctorate in optometry at Southern College of Optometry (Memphis, TN) in 2009. As a member of Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity, he spent time in Belize and throughout Mexico providing eye care and glasses in partnership with Lions Club International. Since then, he has continued the mission to provide for the under-served in Guatemala and locally in downtown KC as the vision care provider for Homeless Connect KC, as well as working with the Leawood Lions Club. Dr. Schreiber is trained in primary eye care, post-operative care and is happy to serve patients of all ages!
